Last month, I had the privilege of exploring Kentucky, America’s bourbon capital, and what struck me most wasn’t the bourbon itself, but the experiences behind it. From sleek and commercial to warm and personal, we saw it all. But one place stood out above the rest: Castle & Key Distillery.

From the moment we pulled up to the gates, it was clear this wasn’t just a distillery, it was an experience. Carved barrels greeted us with character. The sign at the entrance to their tour read “Experience Begins Here” (I mean, talk about speaking my language). Even their floral arrangements were crafted inside repurposed Castle & Key bottles, thoughtful, intentional, memorable.

Every corner was curated. The food truck was perfectly placed. The drinks were crafted with care. The campus itself told a story, history meeting hospitality at every turn. The gift shop? Nestled in a restored boiler room. The bathrooms? In the old train station. Nothing about it was accidental, and that’s exactly what made it magical.

Here’s what most people don’t realize: Castle & Key wasn’t designed as a distillery first. General Taylor designed it as a hospitality experience. The distilling came second. Let that sink in, a manufacturing operation built with hospitality first. That philosophy didn’t just create a space; it created loyalty, connection, and wonder.

And that’s the point. Hospitality isn’t a niche. It’s not limited to restaurants or hotels. It’s a mindset. Whether you’re a doctor, a lawyer, a realtor, or a CEO - if hospitality is front and center in your business, you win every time. Because hospitality, at its core, is about people. It’s about how you make them feel, what they remember, and the story they tell when they leave.

That’s what I help businesses do through Amplify Experiences. I help them see the power of hospitality as strategy, not a department. Because when you build experiences that make people feel seen, valued, and celebrated, you don’t just sell a product, you build a legacy.

So, here’s your challenge:Next time you walk into your office, look at your business the way Castle & Key looks at its campus. Ask yourself, does your experience begin here? Does it begin anywhere? Or are you leaving opportunity - and loyalty - on the table?

If you’re ready to turn your business into the kind of place where people can’t wait to return, let’s talk. Because your version of “hospitality first” might just be the key to unlocking the next level of growth, loyalty, and joy in your brand.

Experience begins here. Let’s make sure your clients feel it.
